Us Military Coins

Many challenge coins are fabricated in South Korea, as the connection to the US military bases there is strong, and costs are cheaper than US made coins.

US Military Coins

Military Coins come in two forms: Challenge coins and Commemorative coins. Since WWI and the advent of the Air Force, challenge coins were held by members of the military to prove loyalty, sometimes even behind enemy lines. These coins are now symbols of morale and valued collectors pieces. The US Treasury has also struck commemorative coins honoring the US armed forces such as the 2005 Marine Corp Silver dollar, which marked the 230th anniversary of the Marines, established in 1775.
